Camp 8

One of our new sites, Camp 8 has two levels, the lower level is right on the creek at a beautiful water hole with rapids, but is subject to occasional flooding during the wet season. The upper level is well above flood levels and offers some nice glimpses of the mountain range.

Size: Small camp site with a total of about 250 square meters of level ground.
The upper area A (190 sqm) has a turning circle so is suitable for trailers, but the lower area B (150 sqm) is quite narrow and absolutely not suited for trailers. Many people will require a five point turn to turn a normal car around.

Access: 4WD only, no RVs; small high clearance caravans and trailers on the upper area only

Occupancy: Basic fee includes 3 adults.
Suggested occupancy up to 10 people and 4 vehicles.

Privacy: ~75m from closest road and ~250m from closest camp site (all as the crow flies)

Fees:
Camp 08 is in our Premium Price Category

NOTES: above prices are per night and include any applicable loading or discount.
The base rate includes 3 adults or child equivalents (or 4.5 adults for long weekends or 6 adults for Easter)
Click here for more info on pricing (eg fees for children, long weekends, possible discounts etc).
A Bond of $100 or 30% of camping fee will also be charged, which is refundable if Terms and Code of Conduct are adhered to and no littering occurs.

And here some feedback from previous campers at Camp 08 who kindly shared their experience:

05/09/24 rob Feels very private and even slightly remote given the 4WD access. great to be near water and the falls. Choice of sites – upper or lower level is great.
17/07/24 Sylvia Perfectly fitted our troopy and gazebo with 6 man tent underneath.
09/07/24 Brent Private camp so close to the creek. More than enough room to turn a car around.
We even had a friendly Billy in camp on the last night!
08/05/24 Simon Wonderful site right next to the creek with a upper level for camper tailers and a lower level for tents or roof top set ups.
10/10/23 anonymous Great privacy and so close to the creek.
Good access roads in good condition
22/09/23 Bede Campbell I think the sight was great. It was deceptively challenging to get to in the Range Rover with big rocks on the track, but once there the site was great. Composting toilets didn’t have a bad smell and the creek next to site 8 was beautiful. The camp site had been cleaned before we got there and the fire pit was tidy. Plenty of fire wood around (especially the small stuff), but if you want bigger logs from dead trees lying around, you’ll need something to cut them.
30/08/23 anonymous Privacy
Close to gorgeous creek
17/08/23 Rob Nice private site next to the stream with easy access to Emerald Creek Falls. Top area is lovely, though we did get some party noise, probably from site 2, not a deal breaker tho.
13/04/23 anonymous It was private. The creek was the best. The toilet was good and well stocked. I found the site to be too open for my liking. It did feel a bit exposed. Weeds between the campsite and the creek should have been cleared to make a view to the creek . We did this ourselves so we could see the creek from our camp.
06/01/23 Sophie Camp 8 is beautiful; it has easy access to the creek and offers great privacy. It feels like you are in your own little world.
25/08/22 Katrina Very private site. Private access to the creek was what made us book no 8. We had adequate room for our car, 2 room tent, swag, shower room and awning off the car and fireplace! Spacious enough for all that and more.
We felt transported. All we heard was the running creek and birds. We are kicking ourselves that we didn’t stay longer. Even our 9 year old said it was the best camp ever and she’s hard to please!
09/08/22 Amanda Amazing, we felt relaxed as soon as we arrive, very private. It was clean, tidy and level, fabulous for our tents. Plenty of room. Great fire pit, loved how close to the creek it was, so beautiful to wake up to in the morning. Good clean functional toilet. Definitely come back again. Worth it.
16/07/22 Barbara Malarski Being close to the water and a short walk to the falls.Loved the surrounding trees
28/06/22 Barbara Malarski Campsite 8 is set on Emerald Creek River , so we had the sound of the water which was pristine and clear, we also enjoyed the shade of the surrounding trees and the sense of relaxation that experience evoked. We brought all our own fire wood in so had a constant fire . Campsite 8 is also a 10-15 minute walk to another section of Emerald creek which leads you to the opportunity to walk to Emerald Creek Falls , so the vicinity of this campsite gives you an opportunity for diverse walking and swimming experiences.
13/06/22 Michael Camp 8 has been my favourite campsite at Emerald Creek Escape (third time visitor). The site is extremely private, particularly the lower part of it which is also right next to Emerald Creek. This is the perfect spot for a couple looking to getaway and enjoy nature for a few days. We walked to Emerald Falls and that only took about 20 minutes. Can’t recommend this site enough.
01/05/22 David Completely private. Have an option to camp virtually on the beautiful creek or on a higher level if desired. Very easy place to relax
06/04/22 Steven Great privacy and prime spot on the creek
08/11/21 Angela Adagra We loved this camp site. It was very secluded and we didn’t see another person the entire time we were there. We camped in November and it didn’t feel hot at all due to the hill and river gums providing shade. It was only hot for a few hours during the day so we went wandering up the creek or sat reading books in the shade of the creek bed. Camp eight had a really secluded and safe feeling to it as it was compact (but plenty of room for all our equipment including a ten man tent and gazebo). The creek-front location is a definite bonus – you can hear the creek bubbling as you drift off to sleep.
18/10/21 mark Its privacy
03/10/21 James A nice shady spot with plenty of birdsong.
22/04/21 anonymous very private, shady, close to the creek
02/09/20 Mark It’s private and protected from wind.
21/07/20 Bruce Very private and close to the creek. We could hear a small bit of noise from camp 2 at times but not annoying. Birdlife was amazing!
15/07/20 Desmond Definitely its privacy and access to the creek. Well positioned site, flat ground for tent/camping area, right amount of shade. Walking distance to the falls, is good, but just the slightest traffic noise which is understandable.
06/07/20 anonymous Felt very private at the creek and lots of shade, very peaceful hearing the birds and sound of the creek. My family has been trying out different spots for a couple of years looking for that, go back to every holidays spot and we think we finally found our spot. Close to cairns, private, close to other things on the tablelands and has water.
We were quite happy that you guys check each spot between visitors so we knew it was going to be clean and tidy when we got there. We met the caretaker and he was very helpful and friendly.
The upper section of camp 8 was nice but there was heaps of ants nests with those nasty tiny red ones that seem to invade you if you stand anywhere near there nest so probably wouldn’t want to pitch a tent up there, I know this isn’t really something you can control when camping in the bush but just thought I’d mention it as the lower spot didn’t have any. Would love to come back with another family and have one group stay at the upper section to.
Overall very happy with the spot and found it to be quite large!
30/06/20 Steven Great privacy. Right next to the creek so great for the kids. Didn’t hear another soul all night. Just the sounds of running water, crackling fire, nature and good company. Will be back as soon as we can. Keen to check out some of the other sites. Thanks
05/05/20 Carah The site offered privacy and total serenity. Unfortunately the lower area was not suitable for us to camp (we have a small off road caravan), however we made use of the upper camp area and walked down to swim/explore Emerald Creek. There was a planned burn-off across the creek during our stay which proved to be a beautiful site as the sun set.
21/02/20 Trent Very private and located right near the creek.
31/12/19 Barry Being the first to camp at this site well situated and peaceful
